Mr. Ridah Sabouni is the Managing Director in the MENA region for the clean energy consultancy, Energetics. Mr. Sabouni led the establishment of the Energetics Dubai office since late 2015, after having spent seven years working from the company headquarters in the Washington DC area. Mr. Sabouni has over 12 years of experience supporting the development of a variety of clean energy technologies, programs, and best practices. In the United States, he provided strategy, project management and technical analysis consulting support to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. national laboratories, and other government clients. Since 2015, Mr. Sabouni has led projects working with government and private sector clients in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and the UAE.
Mr. Sabouni is a leading global expert on the topic of industrial energy efficiency. In the United
States, he worked with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop two national industrial
energy efficiency programs based on the ISO 50001 energy management system framework: the
DOE Superior Energy Performance program and the DOE 50001 Ready program. He also helped to
develop the DOE 50001 Ready Navigator online ISO 50001 implementation guidance tool and
supports the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Energy Management Working Group that manages the
CEM ISO 50001 Energy Management Leadership Awards. He is currently engaged with the
government of Saudi Arabia to develop a national industrial energy efficiency program using the
ISO 50001 framework. And he has worked to develop robust energy management programs for
multiple GCC-based industrial organizations.
He has over 12 years of experience supporting energy R&D programs across a variety of topic areas,
providing strategy, technical, and project management support. His technical areas of expertise
include clean energy R&D program support, energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies,
smart grid, energy management systems, LED lighting, power electronics, industrial technologies,
materials science, solar PV, energy storage, energy and innovation policy, energy M&V, sustainable
transportation, and demand side management.
Mr. Sabouni has a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California
in Davis and the University of California in Santa Barbara. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM),
Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), and a certified Project Management
